Thursday revealed more information about a secret project that the band has been working on for the Los Angeles area for some weeks. Dubbed ‘HQ Live’ by Steve Rennie, Incubus and their team have rented out some space somewhere in Los Angeles and begun converting it from an empty building to their own personal space, which will be used for many things in the month of June and the week of July leading up to the album release. HQ Live will be used as the band’s rehearsal space as they gear up for the upcoming album tour, but it will also host a place where the fans can come and interact with the band and their team. There will be a physical retail store where merchandise can be purchased, as well as drum clinics, autograph sessions, DJ lessons and private ‘mini-concerts’ for invite-only audiences. The entire building will be wired for sound and with webcams so that every detail of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity can be recorded and shared with fans around the world via Incubus World Headquarters. The activity in HQ Live will culminate at the end of the June with an entire week of events from June 30th to July 6th; invites to these very special events will be very exclusive, and only fans at the Incubus World Headquarters have a chance to find themselves on the list.
The hand-written score for Promises, Promises went up for auction on eBay on Friday. Featuring twenty hours of painstaking work from Mike Einziger to put in the entire score, as well as hand-written lyrics from Brandon Boyd and an original piece of artwork from Jose Pasillas, the score has been bound in leather and signed by the entire band. The auction runs a week from its open, so bidding will close on May 27th, and proceeds from the auction will go to the Japanese Red Cross to support the Tsunami Relief efforts.
