Hello, Los Angeles and Southern California Incubus fans!
It grieves me to inform you that the I-405 will be closed on July 15th and 16th to support some 'improvements' (including multiple bridge demolitions and reconstructions) that CalTrans, in their infinite wisdom, are promising to provide. As we all know, this is the weekend of not only the show at the Santa Barbara Bowl but also the San Diego festival. As the 405 is the central artery of north-south travel in Los Angeles, traffic will be necessarily rerouted.
Please plan ahead when leaving for the concerts to accommodate extra traffic load. Information on the closure can be found here: http://www.metro.net/projects/I-405/ Those fans who are travelling to Santa Barbara from SOUTH of the closure may find their best bet to be to take Sepulveda Boulevard north all the way to 101, or to take the Pacific Coast Highway from Santa Monica along the coast to Santa Barbara. The travel times are about the same either way in normal traffic, but of course expect traffic to be worse than usual.
Fans travelling SOUTH to San Diego from NORTH of the closure should be able to use the 10 or the 101 to pick up the 5, which goes south into San Diego.
Everyone drive carefully, and if you have any suggestions on alternate routes, don't be shy about posting them as comments to this blog post.
