Wanted: Guitarists, drummers and DJs with a passion for Incubus and music in general to participate in live instrument clinics with Mike Einziger, Jose Pasillas, and DJ Chris Kilmore.  Must be willing to travel to a currently undisclosed location in Los Angeles to participate in a face-to-face, hands-on clinic with the members of the band.  Friendly personality and willingness to learn highly desired.

Those musicians looking to qualify for an invite to Incubus’ HQLive to participate in these instrument clinics with the members of the band should submit an audition video.  The video should be no more than three minutes in length and should highlight your talent as well as why you think you should be chosen for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.  Invites will be extended to only a very few fans, so give it your best shot!

  • Videos should be submitted in comments to this blog post.
  • Videos should be between two to three minutes and length.
  • Videos should be in English.
  • Videos should be clearly marked as to which clinic it is an audition for: the guitar clinic, the drum clinic, or the DJ clinic.

A Notice:  Incubus and its team will not be providing transportation or accommodation for invited participants.  Those musicians wishing to participate in this clinic must be able to get themselves to Los Angeles on relatively short notice.

Hey everyone, here's my video audition for the guitar clinic.

I covered "Under My Umbrella" as I love how this song just rocks, it's one of my favorites! It really shows off what Mikey is famous for, his great chord progressions and lovely voicings.

Hope you guys like it!

Cheers,

Nick.

Hey!

I'm Jon from Fullerton, CA. that's located in Orange County. if you're from Orange County, join my group!

Anyways, I've been a fan of Incubus for over 10 years and Mike Einziger has been such an amazing inspiration to me and I'm sure tons of other people. He is for sure my favorite guitarist and I'd love to have the opportunity to interact with him. It'd be a dream come true! I'm a fast learner, have a really good ear, and music is everything to me. Thanks for checking out my video and I hope I get the chance to go to LA!

Jon :)

So here's my video, pardon the quality of some of it. The lack of proper recording equipment is why we didn't submit for Promises, Promises.

Nice to Know You… (hello.) ; p

Mike (and the lovely Incubus crew),

BB-Q where I live!… Burger, beer, wine, salad (I don't pretend to know what you like to eat), refreshments, a place to crash, a car to drive around town, maybe a little beach time (always a chance for surf in September) or just hanging about when you're in New York!

My town… Bellport. A sleepy place on the South Shore of Long Island rumored to be a fantastic 'get-a-way-from-it-all' area where the likes of the Beatles and Rolling Stones have stayed to do just that!

So… If you want a small little 'vaca' from the hype… I'll give you the address!

Incubus is my FAVORITE band. I would be so incredibly ecstatic and deeply honored to be chosen to take part in Jose's Drum Clinic!  I feel like I would be a great choice for this because I have an extremely deep passion for music and drumming, a major part of which came from the effect that Incubus has had on me over the last 12 years. I am always on the quest to learn more, musically and otherwise, and this would be the ultimate opportunity to go straight to the source of my inspiration. Also, I have a lot of teaching experience and find the process of exchange in the shed to be very fulfilling and a ton of fun. I'm very easy to work with and try my best to make everything I do fun, inspired and meaningful.
If I am chosen for this I will do absolutely anything to be there. I will cancel gigs, I will miss my surf day, I would bike with my drums on my back if I have to! Thank you for this awesome opportunity.
Peace and LOVE,
Lee

-MIKE EINZIGER GUITAR CLINIC TAPE-

This would be an incredible opportunity for me to be able to ask Mike questions I've had for ten years. I would be a suitable pick for this guitar clinic because I would be willing to dive into some of the obscure parts of his guitar playing, those great werido guitar leads, and I would love to workshop some of that stuff with him. After all, Mike Einziger is one of today's best but unfortunately most unsung guitarists, and I wish the majority of guitarists recognized how creative that guy's brain is. Also, I live in San Jose, CA! :) Thank you for giving me a shot at what truly is this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

I'm Ehssan Karimi and this is my audition for the DRUM CLINIC.

I think I deserve to be chosen because I just graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston with a degree in drumset performance.  I have dedicated my life to pursuing music and playing drums, and I could use all the tips/advice I can get from Jose on how to support myself as a drummer in the music industry.  I have recorded a lot of music and played a lot of live shows and learning how to sharpen my skills from someone who has toured the world and recorded platinum albums is one of my dreams.  Thank you for this opportunity!
