Recent Site Behavior
It makes me a little sad that I have to write this post at all, but given that our little family here has grown from a few hundred to almost 37,000 people strong, I suppose some considerations in this direction must be expected. I wanted to take a few minutes to address a few recent behavior trends on the site which are becoming too common. Please give this post a careful read.
- Badmouthing other HQ Members is unacceptable. It is unacceptable to do it to their faces and it is likewise unacceptable to do it behind anyone's back. If you're not willing to say something directly to a person, chances are good you should not be saying it at all. There is no place for vicious, petty gossip on Incubus World Headquarters and I will take allegations of slander or defamation of character very seriously.
- Lying to other HQ Members is also not acceptable. In general this means that it isn't alright to spread false information about Incubus or Incubus-related things around the site. Users should be able to rely on coming here to get the straight, true information right from the source. Spreading rumors that you know to be untrue about upcoming events or song releases is not right behavior and it legitimately makes life a lot harder for the band and their management team. We have enough fires to put out already.
- General hostility has been at an all-time high lately and I want everyone to make a sincere effort to scale it back. I realize this is the internet and it is very hard to read 'tone of voice' in pure text, especially when there is a language barrier in the way. Everyone should be mindful of their phraseology in general; while it's more than acceptable to have discussion about Incubus, their music, or other things, and likewise more than acceptable to have differing or dissenting opinions, it is not alright to attack people over their opinions, nor is it particularly acceptable to phrase one's opinions as fact or in such an inciteful way that people feel they're being attacked for not holding the same opinion.
- Sexual content in the chatroom has also been rampant. It needs to stop. We have many young users from around the world and they are not to be made to feel unwelcome. While profanity isn't precisely against the rules, excessive profanity is, and if the topic of a conversation wouldn't fly in a PG-13 movie, presume it's not alright for chat.
The HQ is for everyone. No one has more 'right' to be here than anyone else. It is a site for newcomers and oldbies alike. If someone is bothering you, take a few minutes away from the keyboard to calm down instead of allowing the situation to escalate into a fight. If the problem is persistent, please take screenshots and send them to me in my inbox. I take moderation of this site very seriously and I will remove users who are making the place uncomfortable for everyone else. As always, remain in compliance with the User Guide and if you have any problems at all, please do not hesitate to approach me or another member of the Moderation Team.
I hope everyone continues to enjoy and participate in the site. I hate to hear about people fighting; that isn't what this place should be about. I hope everyone will also help me work to make the site what it should be, again.

I haven't experienced anything bad on this site but regardless of this I totally agree with Lauren. Incubus fans span generations and of course opinions will differ, but in no way should anyone feel 'bullied' or 'attacked' by someone else's behaviour. We all have a common cause, a love of Incubus, so please keep that in mind and that the majority of Incubus fans are loving and respectful. xxx.

I'm totally with you on this, Lauren, but some of these 'fans' on Facebook are testing my patience. It's hard not to enter into a heated debate when people start off by badmouthing the band and the efforts of El Jefe's Management Team. Just needed to vent that.

Agree with Lauren's comments about behavior on this site.
The members over on MYF are far more respectful.
It's always the few that ruin it for the majority.

it's sad to read this... i didn't join to the chat in the past weeks... but honestly i have to say that i miss so much the HQchat in the begin of the site :( where all of us were like brothers and sisters... i think this shit happens in chats where every kind of personalities are able to join in it.. but the solution is simple: moderators must kick some asses starting from now...
