Carrying on in the Vinyl theme - The Art work was just as important to selling the Band/Artist and the music.
Any of you have favourites ? I know i have, such as the people at Hypnosis & Roger Dean, to name two, who transformed the art form. IMO

The cover of Santana's Abraxas, Annunciation by Abdul Mati Klarwein is a nice one. I just found out about Grain of Sand - fascinating!

Permalink Reply by Me on October 19, 2011 at 5:56am The Dark Side of the Moon has got to be the most recognizable album cover Gabygasper. It's become part of the culture in a way, probably in other countries as well.
@brack, I'd always thought the prism design was credited to Storm Thorgerson alone who did the artwork on Division Bell (also one of my faves), but I see now he was part of Hypgnosis, a group of artists. Thanks for that info. Here is another of my favourite albums:
Betty Swanwick had originally painted "The Dream" without the park bench apparently, but Genesis wanted to include it for a reference to a song. Her art is so lovely, ethereal & textured at the same time. I used to stare at this album cover too : ). This is a great discussion!
