Carrying on in the Vinyl theme - The Art work was just as important to selling the Band/Artist and the music.

Any of you have favourites ? I know i have, such as the people at Hypnosis  & Roger Dean, to name two,  who transformed the art form. IMO

Neon Park, who did many of the album covers for Little Feat, comes to mind.  It isn't my favorite art, but I sure do remember it.  I agree with you that the Yes albums are beautiful.

The cover of Santana's Abraxas, Annunciation by Abdul Mati Klarwein is a nice one. I just found out about Grain of Sand - fascinating!
I love the floating islands of R.Dean. When I saw 'Avatar's' floating islands, we immediately thought of Dean.....
You should google Under the Covers- A Magical Journey, It's a dvd just about this subject. Some very interesting stories about great album artwork.

I choose "The dark side of the moon" / Pink Floyd , it's simple and beautiful - I Love it!

 Agree - created by Hypnosis

Of course there's always Andy Warhol. The music on the loud speaker before the Incubus show in Miami last month was pretty exclusively Velvet Underground. A real treat - I hadn't heard it in years. Just one more thing to love about that evening.

The Dark Side of the Moon has got to be the most recognizable album cover Gabygasper. It's become part of the culture in a way, probably in other countries as well.

@brack, I'd always thought the prism design was credited to Storm Thorgerson alone who did the artwork on Division Bell (also one of my faves), but I see now he was part of Hypgnosis, a group of artists. Thanks for that info. Here is another of my favourite albums:

Betty Swanwick had originally painted "The Dream" without the park bench apparently, but Genesis wanted to include it for a reference to a song. Her art is so lovely, ethereal & textured at the same time. I used to stare at this album cover too : ). This is a great discussion!

Roger Dean - YES - Pathways
Another Iconic favourite! Take away the text - most would be able to name the band, if not the album ..... unless you've been living under a rock for the past 20+ years  lol  btw, Teen Spirit is being released again .

Always loved this one..  Forgot to mention also have all the pre-Sammy Hagar VH stuff on vinyl...
