I grew up listening to the Make Yourself album, but in my intelligent lifetime, I heard When It Comes on my mom's lap top and adored it, in sixth grade. And then I heard Dig on the radio a lot and adored it, and finally mom gave me her A Crow Left Of The Murder CD, and I pretty much played in on repeat for months. and then my obsession grew, haha.
First Incubus song was Privilege. The summer after 8th grade, I was on a road trip with my youth group to go canoeing and a buddy of mine passed me his cd's and I picked the bright orange one. Had never heard of them before. Listened to the cd, start to finish, and it changed my life!
I'm sure that it was Pardon Me when I was in high school, but I'm beginning to think Stellar might have been it instead...all I know is that I would always try to catch Pardon Me on the radio so that I could tape it :) I'm thinking it could have been either one of them because I was very interested in science, space in particular, and something about the opening of Pardon Me gave me images of nebulas and floating away from myself...Stellar's space connection is obvious :P
For me, it was "Wish you were here"...when I was in high school, a friend listen to Incubus and lend me Morning View...I listen to it during hours and hours !
for me, Drive...when I was in high school, I studied while listening to the radio and was love at first hearing! :)
The first song that instantly got me hooked on their music was The Warmth.
"Pardon Me" was what initially sparked my interest. "Stellar" and the video for it sealed the deal. I remember staying up late that summer and waiting until that video came on before going to bed each night.
Stellar. My friend forced me to listen when I was 15. I was like "GOD DAMN!!! That voice!!" I had never heard a voice like that in my life. The music blew me away too. I've been hooked ever since.
i heard the acoustic version of pardon me on the radio for the first time a few years ago actually. it's kind of funny looking back, since that's the song that got the WORLD hooked on incubus. that it happened to me so many years later is cool indeed. ever since then i've been your typical obsessive fan.
"Nice to Know You" ...hooked from the first listen.
Kind of weird how this happened  but I first heard them in my cousins car, I must have been 8 or 9 and it was the morning view cd. It sounded ineresting but it didn't really catch my attention. Maybe it was because I was to young and didn't really understand music. Anyways the song that got me to investigate who this band was is "Still not a player" by Big Pun but Incubus had layered over the track. I loved the infusion! I guess this is where my love of variety spawned from. It wasn't a song they wrote on their own that I fell in love with, it was their versatility of making something like hip-hop sound even better.
I heard "Stellar" on the radio, and that was really the song that made me want to write down the name and look them up when I got home.  I then discovered that they were the band that had written "Drive" that I had heard so many times years and years before.  Now I'm in love with every song they've ever made.
