Incubus is planning a week of events here in Los Angeles to celebrate the release of their new album "If Not Now, When?". And all kinds of things are going to be happening, from chats with the band, musician's clinics, behind the scenes look at the tour prep, and most of all some very special performances from the band from June 30-July 6...Six performances in all and all of it is going to be broadcast live on the internet. But for a lucky few, you can be part of the live in studio audience. Only 75 people can attend each performance so these invites will be highly in demand. Tickets are not being sold for these events. Its invite only and we can't figure out who to invite. That's where you come in. Give us some ideas of how we can pick the list. Think out of the box and think about how we can give everybody who'd like to be there a fair shot. Think about how we can involve fans not just from LA but also Incubus fans in the US and internationally as well. We will be keeping an eye out for great ideas and look forward to seeing the most deserving fans sitting on the couch that week.

Why not do something easy like set up an email account and make an annoucement on Facebook/Twitter that the first to reply with their name & name of their guests get tickets. Granted it's not super exciting but at least everyone has an equal shot at getting in - it doesn't limit participation to musically gifted, those living in So Cal, or the tech savvy. You're still going to get the diehard fans who stalk Incubus' every move...keep it simple.
Permalink Reply by Jimmy Moon on June 1, 2011 at 8:40pm @Melissa, yes I think an RSVP option would be best. Since there is already this link http://incubushq.com/events/innw-world-tour-rehearsals dedicated to the INNW Rehearsals maybe we can tie in the randomn drawing from the fans who are have RSVP'ed that they "attending" that page.
Permalink Reply by Miquela Sierra on June 1, 2011 at 8:46pm considering there are only 518 people who have rsvp'd to that page.........give them all invites, and then pool the rest from the rest of the incufans! 0:)

Permalink Reply by Anthony Lewis on June 1, 2011 at 9:11pm Great ideas Jimmy but the contest one doesn't seem fair to the public en masse because not everyone is musically..."talented" (although this doesn't apply to me haha).
I like Jimmy's idea #2. You would have to put a limit on the time though, there is no way they could watch hundreds of 5 minute videos. To be clear though. Even a video talking about our admiration for the band would be fun (but funny, witty, and well-spoken ones would do the best).

Here's some suggestions:
1) As Ren stated earlier today, possibly having it be related to the Promises Promises cover contest in some way.
2) Submitting a short video clip (maybe up to 5 mins. max) on why you love incubus AND deserve to be a part of the HQ Live sessions. This could be done in any variety of ways: musically/artistically/poetry/etc.
3) Incubus TRIVIA QUESTIONS =). Gotta figure out how to broadcast it though.
Permalink Reply by monica nabity on June 1, 2011 at 9:30pm Hey Rennie, first off you rock! thank you so much for keeping us all in the loop and allowing us some pretty special times with the guys this tour. I am beyond excited about having an opportunity to spend more time with my favorite group of musicians in the form of Brandon, Chris, Jose, Ben and Mike. and rennie :)
Here are some ideas:
1)I think aq great start is by video entries as to why you feel you deserve to be there at a special preformance. (I have been dreaming about this sort of insider rock out session with Incubus since the morning view sessions.)
2) You could have a contest for what you contribute to the world: share your stories of conservation, environmentalism, animal rights, healings, miracle stories etc and what you do to help our planet and humanity.
3) share your talents: do a simple video sharing your talents
4) scavenger hunt, always fun but got to be creative so more then just LA peeps get to play....
Rennie you already know I would be there in a second if picked. You tell me when and where and I am there :)
Then there is also a part of me that says geez rennie and the guys know some of us by name for how long we have been following Incubus it would be great to get an invite on that alone but i know thats a little selfish of me to wish that. But that would be awesome!
Permalink Reply by Ashley Wysocki on June 1, 2011 at 11:31pm I was at that show too...the Monday before Thanksgiving 2006!!! I can still remember exactly how I felt, where I was when I won, and I'm pretty sure I might have shed a tear or two. I also remember the awesome run-in with food poisoning I had that night after the show, lol!!
I would agree that based on all of the contests everyone is suggesting, the random draw is the most "fair." It completely levels the playing field and gives everyone a chance to RSVP, regardless of where they live, how much money they make, or how long they have been a fan.
I also like the idea of Ren, or the guys themselves, drawing numbers/names out of a hat. The whole point of IWHQ is for the fans to be involved with as much Incubus as possible leading up to the album release date and beyond. 2 days before each show, Ren could do a live event where he pulls the names out of a hat. Adds a little suspense, gets HQTV involved, and makes it just a little more special than recieving an email. I'nm sure everyone here would be stoked to hear their name announced by anyone affiliated with Incubus!!!

Incubus did this exact "quick email rsvp" method also. It was just before Light Grenades was released. I think they did it through Yahoo! music. I remember getting the email sometime in the afternoon because I just happened to check my email at work. It was just one performance at a studio for like 75 people. I had to respond with my full name and the full name of one guest and a question (not required) to ask the band. I responded as quick as I could without a question but with full name of the first person I could think of which was my sister. The next day I got an acceptance to attend! It was a total surprise! It felt like I won a million dollars! I felt sooo lucky and privileged! the performance was like, 2 days after. I had to meet at a location where a bus would pick all of us up and take us to the performance location.
Jamie Feldt said:So far, There are many great ideas, but if we are to think about how we can "give EVERYBODY who'd like to be there a fair shot." it needs to go beyond just those who are musically, poetically or artistically inclined or just those who have participated in the Promises Promises cover contest as this excludes many others who'd like to be there. There needs to be something more fan friendly.
Example...A few years ago, another band did a live taping and only 250 fans could attend. They emailed the fan base and asked that everyone a write a brief question to the band or one of the band members. They picked the first 250 that they liked and then picked the top 6 to actually ask their question on camera at the taping. Seemed fair enough as it doesn't require anyone to have a specific talent or skill to participate.
With that said...First response to invitation, Trivia, the digital "Wild Goose Chase", etc. are all great ideas.

Since Incubus' music touches so many peoples lives, how's about who can gather the most people who know the lyrics to "Drive" at a spot like a college quad, park, etc etc and sing the chorus to the solo a capella as loud as they can! Recording this event is a must - from a tall structure to show the size of the crowd! Then can be uploaded via Youtube or whatever! Kinda like at concerts when the band pauses to let their fans carry the lyrics. I mean it's L.A. and no one interacts with no one. I think to do something like this would have a positive impact on our community. And, those voices will be heard by those who haven't had the privilege of hearing one of the best songs ever recorded by this great band. Whaddayathink!
