"Invite Only Performances by Incubus" at HQLive -How To Qualify
Incubus is planning a week of events here in Los Angeles to celebrate the release of their new album "If Not Now, When?". And all kinds of things are going to be happening, from chats with the band, musician's clinics, behind the scenes look at the tour prep, and most of all some very special performances from the band from June 30-July 6...Six performances in all and all of it is going to be broadcast live on the internet. But for a lucky few, you can be part of the live in studio audience. Only 75 people can attend each performance so these invites will be highly in demand. Tickets are not being sold for these events. Its invite only and we can't figure out who to invite. That's where you come in. Give us some ideas of how we can pick the list. Think out of the box and think about how we can give everybody who'd like to be there a fair shot. Think about how we can involve fans not just from LA but also Incubus fans in the US and internationally as well. We will be keeping an eye out for great ideas and look forward to seeing the most deserving fans sitting on the couch that week.

Re-reading this thread again, I like the goose chase, that's a rad idea. Trivia is really awesome too! But the one that resonates with me the most is the videos. I know how much the band means to me and I would love to make one showing my love for them. Especially with me being on the road right now. It would be just a perfect, perfect way to show them how I feel. But as Lauren said having Incubus in your bones is a very real thing and you SHOULD have to prove it and not just ramble on about how hot Brandon is. So I honestly hope that this is the way!!!

The video of why you should be invited seems fair and reasonable. My 2nd favorite would have to be covering a song, I know way too many incubus tunes for my own good and I would like the opportunity for the band to see how they've inspired me. 3rd would have to be the trivia questions over the chat, and just to spice it up, we should make spelling count! If Ren were to do the trivia questions over chat, we could all see who responded first with the right answer so it wouldn't even be hard to figure out who won :].

Like Kelly menitoned, people who responded to this discussion should be chosen haha. Making a video about how Incubus has touched your life is one of the best ideas I think, but it would be hard to choose people because I'm sure everyone has a great story about how Incubus has inspired them. Maybe people should RSVP to Incubus live, then Ren and the guys will pick the names out of a hat. That sounds pretty fair. :)

I'm really digging the idea of a virtual scavenger hunt! It's something any of us can do and it sounds like a lot of fun. It's more cut and dry than a video contest and less planning involved than an ACTUAL scavenger hunt (though that would be fun as well!)

I could suggest something silly like you have to write 'i want to be at hq live' on your naked body and take a picture in a really public place? ahahaha

Short, quick and to the point. Getting through entries may be tedious but the good ones would really stand out!

"If not now, when" what are you waiting for, submit your entries by essay, photo, etc as to what you have been putting off, for one reason or another, why this is important to you, and why now, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

I think, when it comes to picking it always gets hard.
First of all, those who have bought a plane ticket in advance without knowing whether or not it would actually happen should get an invite, without any question. There are sacrifices behind traveling far to be part of an event you aren't even sure will happen. It is true devotion.
For the rest I would like it if the crowd would be as varying as possible, meaning of all ages, ethnicities and gender. I know that the HQ gives a lot of chances to all of us and there are many people spending their free time to help with all that is going on and in my opinion those should be rewarded,too.
I would like to see something not favoring a certain group of people and really giving everyone a chance.
As for a contest I would like to vouch for something bound to a more day to day approach, like putting lines from Incubus Songs into action and filming it to be sent in or something alike.
After all the band puts a great effort into making this world a better place to stay in and it would be wonderful to see some of the impacts they had and have on people for real.
Steve's "If not now when thread" was a good start. Why not pick it up there and go further? Why not make it really personal?
It would be a great chance to see and hear how Incubus fans try to make this planet a better place to stay. Reward not those who are the fastest, the richest, the most egoistic or knowallabouts, but those who comitted themselves to the greater good starting in growing themselves into better people and inspiring others to do the same.

a virtual goose chase would be awesome! or since the LA group is pretty small, just sending out RSVP's to the first 200 that signed up or something similar... maybe even doing some sort of lottery. i also like the trivia idea, maybe holding a trivia contest via chat?

Adding on to those who are suggesting that RSVP's go out to those in the Los Angeles group... How about giving the opportunity for those who can't make it to the Incubus concerts? Whether it may be due to money issues or in my case, the fact that I won't be in the country when Incubus has their LA concert?
Basically, I'm leaving to live in Korea for one year in mid-August (after the Jisan Rock Festival which will be at the end of July)... and since I'll be away for a year, I won't be around for the October LA Incubus concert! :( I've never seen them in concert and my brother promised to buy me tickets to their next concert last Christmas and I've been waiting to redeem that opportunity but it looks like I won't be able to...
