"Invite Only Performances by Incubus" at HQLive -How To Qualify
Incubus is planning a week of events here in Los Angeles to celebrate the release of their new album "If Not Now, When?". And all kinds of things are going to be happening, from chats with the band, musician's clinics, behind the scenes look at the tour prep, and most of all some very special performances from the band from June 30-July 6...Six performances in all and all of it is going to be broadcast live on the internet. But for a lucky few, you can be part of the live in studio audience. Only 75 people can attend each performance so these invites will be highly in demand. Tickets are not being sold for these events. Its invite only and we can't figure out who to invite. That's where you come in. Give us some ideas of how we can pick the list. Think out of the box and think about how we can give everybody who'd like to be there a fair shot. Think about how we can involve fans not just from LA but also Incubus fans in the US and internationally as well. We will be keeping an eye out for great ideas and look forward to seeing the most deserving fans sitting on the couch that week.

I personally would like to see more than one option for this, if that's possible. There are many fans who have a myriad of talents--some of us cannot play instruments or sing well enough to make a cover or (as in my case) don't have access to the instrument needed. Some of us don't have webcams or the bandwidth to upload videos, etc. So maybe there can be a couple of ideas that will give opportunities to a wider array of people.
For what it's worth, I think the scavenger hunt/wild Goose chase is a great idea, whether online or in the physical world, or both.

Point taken Lauren. For the video submission though it wouldn't have to be an artistic talent only, it could also be just yourself saying your own words and feelings why you love the band and want to see them. As for those without a webcam to upload the videos, that is understandable, hopefully more ideas will come soon!

Yeah, I agree with Lauren. Submitting a video of why you deserve to get in is a great idea. Or maybe Ren should post what time to get to the place and the first certain number of people who get there get in.

How about one person, or group of people, act out and try to re-inact any Incubus video, or if you wanna keep it tied with the new album, have them act out the video for "Adolescents". Whoever replicates the video most precisely, wins the contest. Consider the looks of the members compared to the actual Incubus members, their closeness with clothing, the attitude and swagger of who they're imitating, the background setting, filming techniques, etc. Whatever else you think of.

Yeah Im not sure about it regarding the time frame, but it would be a cool idea for a future contest. I think it would be sick to see what some ppl could put together.

That music video idea sounds fun, and challenging. The Incubus trivia somebody mentioned earlier is also an awesome idea. Maybe Ren can go on the chat and quiz us on the band...

If you havent already seen it, check out the music video for the song "The Miracle" by Queen. That's where I got the music video idea from, and that's what i Think we should do. If not for this contest, for some contest in the future. It would be insane to see what us Incubus fans can do.

i agree with terri! open it up to norcal-er's too!! you betcher bottom i'll be on the next plane down there!
i agree that you should pool from the promises contest runner-ups, for at least one of the six shows! (esp. since i'll be one of them ;)
i like the idea of a video contest too...you'll get a lot of fangirl incuheads professing their love for brandon boyd ;)
or maybe introduce another cover contest? but this time let the fans choose an incubus song to cover! (i'd love to sink my teeth into some ACLOTM or S.C.I.E.N.C.E. songs!) could be fun...and for those who are not musically able (is that the pc way to say tone-deaf? ;) they could make a funny lip-synching cover...or whatever else they can think of!)
