Mike, Kilmore, Jose and Brandon will be doing separate video chats over the course of the HQ Anniversary party, and they'll be answering your questions straight from the internet. To cut down on the amount of confusion going on in the chat room while they're live, we will be pulling the best questions from this thread to ask them on-air.
This thread is for questions for Brandon Boyd only.

Permalink Reply by Minniewitz on March 7, 2012 at 7:57pm Good afternoon Brandon,
Your words and melodies have inspired me ever since I first heard "Pardon Me" during my graduate school years and now that I am college professor of psychology I find myself quoting said lyrics in the courses that I teach. It is clear that you are very well read. You have spoken recently on the effect that Joseph's Campbell's works have had on you as a lyricist as well as quoted Carl Jung in your 2nd book, "From the Murks of the Sultry Abyss", just to name a few examples. My question is this... WHAT BOOKS WERE THE MOST INFLUENTIAL IN YOUR LIFE AND WHAT DO YOU THINK SHOULD BE REQUIRED READS FOR STUDENTS TODAY? I would like to pass your sage advice on to my own students.
Thank you for your time and most importantly for causing us all to pause, ponder, and prevail.
Sincerely, Melissa Tomasulo
PS. Were you ever able to read the book, ""Proust Was a Neuroscientist" which I gave to you at SPAC? Thoughts?
Permalink Reply by Jenny P on March 7, 2012 at 7:57pm Hello...my name is Jenny. I don't really know who to ask this question to because it's meant for all the members of the band but if you're the only one who answers it it's fine.
I've always wondered how you guys (or individually) avoided the whole drug addiction/scene that so many "rocks stars" are or have been unfortunately prone to while in a band? And I'm talking about the hard stuff. Did the opportunity ever present itself or was the desire ever there and what has kept you guys, or you, away from that? And of course I'll never know if this is the case or not but I assume that this was never a problem within the band. I'm not assuming that all rock stars/musicians/artists have drug addictions but I'm just asking because it's been a common occurrence with a lot of the bands that I'm currently getting into and I just thought I'd ask what makes you or the band different in this aspect.

Permalink Reply by Christian-o Moorderface on March 7, 2012 at 8:09pm Brandon, what's the reason why Incubus went excessively soft on these two last albums? I remember an Incubus that sounded very Hard-Rock with some funk and and other mixes, and now it's simply pop.. maybe pop-rock. And will the band pick up the sound in the near future for us hardcore, old school fans?
Thanks, Mr. Boyd!

I'm Liliana a fuckin' big fan of you all from Brazil! So...
The maturity is remarkable in each band's album mainly "If Not Now, When?" that in my opinion sounds like the most experimental of all! So, would like to know what was the inspiration for this last album and if you'll come of the tour to Brazil? And if you have plans for a new solo record this year?
P.S.: I really hope that my question be one of you come to choose! LOVE U ALL! <3

Could you start doing art shows/displays around the US? I am a huge fan of your artwork and would love to see it displayed everywhere and purchase it! Your work is absolutely beautiful and unique. Thank you!
Love,
Taylor Treen
